Meet our other new addition!

So, John got $70.00 in birthday money and we gave him $20.00 to spend and the rest into savings and tithe. So, he decided that he would like to get a hamster with his birthday money. We informed him that he would have to purchase the supplies to go with it should he get one. So, he had to opt for a mouse instead. Here is our new addition, Rocket. So we are slowly building a zoo here. We have a dog, cat, toad and mouse and our little turtle Jane just passed away a couple of months ago. I think that should be it for now, but the girls are planning on adding more mice to our collection with the birthday money they get...so if everyone could get actually gifts this year that would be great! 8-)

Homeschool Year 3, Day 17 - Favorite Hat Day

This year to make it more exciting, more variety I have thrown in "spirit days". A couple of weeks ago we had orange day. Today was Favorite Hat Day! Here is a picture of the kids with their favorite hats on. In the afternoon we had our activity for History to do and I thought tha tit was appropriate that we had to make Roman Headpieces (which I got from this curriculum). They had fun putting those together, I wish I could say that I had cordinated that, but I didn't. They added beads to make it more decorative. The funny thing is last week we were learning Ancient American and learned about the native americans. So, I had to remind them that it was Ancient Rome that we were making the headpieces for. They kept running around the house yelling for everyone to come to their Indianland. Oh, well, at least they remembered what we learned LAST WEEK! I think we might have to do a review of Rome next week. 8-)

I think he is trying to tell us something

I was excited to find that our dog finally decided to go poop outside today. We don't have any treats, but do have some fun chew sticks for him. So when he came back inside I handed him one and he ran off to the back room. The back room at our house is where our cat, Oliver, sleeps on top of the computer all day long! That is all he does. Someone recently asked why we fed our cat people food because he is so fat. Nope, we don't. He licks our bowls after we have pudding sometimes, but we don't feed him. He is just FAT, very fat! Anyway, that is all he does. Do you see the picture to the left? That is our cats bed. Cinnamon ran Oliver out early in the day, got his bed down on the ground, and when I gave him his treat ran back to it to enjoy. Little did I know that he had collected all of his favorite toys before hand and had them piled in his bed, I mean the cat's bed. I think he just might be trying to tell us that he wants one of his own. He is too cute to say no...off to Petco we go!

The fruit of our labor...has arrived!

Long in coming, here is a picture of some of the produce from our garden. We planted the corn a little late so it is still coming in...and it is small. But, we just enjoy seeing the stalks in our back yard! The tomatoes taste SO MUCH better than store bought ones. I can't wait to grow them next year. Our potatoes didn't do so good, I think we need to water them more. The plants of the cucumbers have taken off, but no cucumbers. Again, our first year so we are learning. It is so exciting seeing something come from hard work, and a great lesson to teach the kids too! I can't wait until next year!

Our new addition!

So, it is funny that I haven't put this on here until now consider we have had him for about three weeks now! Here is a picture of our cute little bundle of joy!

His name is Cinnamon. The kids picked out the name. He is a miniature poodle. The person we bought him from said he was an apricot color, but we think it is just a nice brown. You let us know what you think. He LOVES the kids, more than us. Each morning he hears them and is up and ready to greet them with LOTS and LOTS of kisses! John keeps saying, "I can't believe we actually have a dog, I can't believe we have a dog!" He is a lot of fun. We felt like we had a new baby at first potty training him through the night, but he is great now and actually sleeps on our bed. The kids are anticipating the day for him to sleep up there. So, here is our new additon!
