I am a baseball player

I wonder what will happen in the game

I hear the coaches yelling

I see the pitcher on the mound

I want to steal a base

I am a baseball player

I pretend to be Jackie Robinson and steal home plate

I feel that pressure is on me

I touch homebase

I am worried what the call will be, I hope I will be safe

I am a baseball player

I understand I might be out

I say I must be safe for the umpire stretches out his arms "SAFE!"

I dream what will happen for we will celebrate

Baseball season

Baseball Season I love. Not only because I get to watch my son play.  I just love baseball.  And he is a lot of fun to watch!  I enjoy the smile on his face when his team makes a great play.  I love the passion that he gets to do his best.  I love the anticipation he has for the next play.  I love baseball.  I love watching my son play ball. He is a great player.  I am a little bias, but he is good. 8)  The best part is my husband is the coach.  The two of them are great together.  

One of the other reason I love it, the girls and I get to come and cheer our boys on!

2009 Dunham Park Rookie Cubs CHAMPIONS!!!

Sunday morning was exciting! If you read my earlier blog you learned that we, the Rookie Cubs, came from 4th place and beat the 1st place team, the Diamondbacks. It was an exciting game. We were so excited to be apart of the Championship game. Jason, of course, had church to tend to so it was nice that all the dad's pitched in to help out. Our family attended Willow, a church nearby that has a Saturday night service, the night before so that John and I had time to worship God. So Jason came dressed in his suit and baseball tie to coach the beginning of the game. Our friend Kim picked the girls up and took them to church AND took over children's church for me! Thank you Kim! We kept texting him throughout the service to keep him updated on how we were doing. Although, no one thought to let him know which number we were so later we found out he knew the score, but didn't know if we were on top the whole time. 8-) The kids did a great job and we came out and won it 21-8. These kids worked so hard all year for this and we were so proud of them. We had a great picnic for all the teams in the association afterwards. It was a lot of fun! Someone was nice enough to make the beautiful cookies for all the boys after the game. I had to get a shot of them.

Cougars and Reading..oh my!

Through our homeschool group, TEACH, we were able to go as a group to the Kane County Cougars Game. This was a pat on the back for the kids doing great reading during the year. They got special shirts and then we got to line up on the field before the game. We paraded around the field and then got to get autographs by all the players. Since John has been playing baseball he was really excited to meet some of the players. It was a great game, until the ninth inning. The Cougars were winning 3 to 1. With two outs and two strikes somehow the pitcher got the bases loaded and then a guy on the Silverhawks hit a GRAND SLAM! Then the pitcher loaded the bases again...remember there were two outs already....needless to say our team did not recover from the Grand Slam. Oh, well, maybe next time. After all the games they let the fans on the field to run the bases. John couldn't wait to get out there. Dad, John, Karli and I were the ones to run the bases, Emily and Kiley decided that they were awesome cheerleaders. It was a really fun, but exhausting, evening. The kids loved that they didn't get into bed until 11:00 PM. I am really proud of the kids and all the hard work they have put in this year. It was a great way to celebrate!

Down 7-0 + Extra Innings + Come back = Best little league game ever!

So if you have notice the background of our blog has changed. Our family is a family that loves baseball! Thanks dad for taking me to all the games you did when I was a kid!!! Anyway, it is baseball season, the Cubs are playing, spring is in the air...life is good.

Today was our first game for our Rookie League Cubs team. Jason is the manager, and he is a really good one I might add. So, today was our first game.

We were in the second inning against the Athletics and it was 3-0, we were losing. They were good, but we kept having fun. Jason's 3 things for a team are 1. Teamwork 2. Sportsmanship 3. Fun. At the end of the 6th inning we needed one run to tie, and we got it! We headed into extra innings. The other then scored another run. We had to get one to tie again or two to win it. We had two guys on and Ian came up to bat. John was up after Ian. Ian had two strikes and he nailed the ball in the outfield. The other two boys scored with the second sliding into home for the win! We won 9-8! It was such an exciting game! The boys never gave up!!! Go Cubs Go!!
