La Clase Divertida

This summer we decided to do some school subjects that we didn't get to this year. So we are learning art and Spanish. In our La Clase Divertida lessons we have learned our names, how to ask someone elses name, tell them ours, colors, vowels and sounds, and the beginning of the alphabet and sounds. It has been a lot of fun. There are also some great ideas for us to do to experience a little bit of the spanish culture. So the other day we made Tostones. We had a lot of fun! Here are some pictures of our project below.

Cutting the plantains.
Frying the plantains.

Then we smushed them. There is a special utencil for that, but we just used a cup because we don't own the proper tool. It worked fine. The kids did a great job.

Then we fried the plantains again. Yes, this is a really healthy meal! 8-) After the second fry, you sprinkle it with powder sugar or salt. Our family liked the salted ones more than the sugar. We especially liked the extra crunchy ones!
Here is the finished product with sugar (one on the star plate). The ones on paper towels are sprinkled in salt.
