We began our trip packing on Monday
morning, July 1st. Finishing
up last minute packing was exciting as we headed off on our trip. As we began our drive near the beginning of
Route 66 we were to be on the old historic route. We reminisced as we drove by our previous
year’s vacation spot, St. Louis.
We stopped
out side the city at a McDonald’s, excited to be on our way. Heading down to Springfield, MO we saw some
beautiful hills and trees in the Ozarks.
Ending our first days drive at Route 66 Best Western, we were excited to
spend the night at a hotel, where Elvis stayed, as we anticipated a month of
camping. Waking up the next morning we were able to look around and see all the historic Cadillacs the hotel had and were able to take our pictures in them.
It was fun, but we were not at our first destination. On to Oklahoma we went, stopping in Tulsa, OK to see our dear friends Mary and Jerry Johnson. They took us to Coney Islander and gave us a tour of their home church. The kids loved the kids’ area and we took pictures to show Joe. 8)
